Armando Jimenez carries forward a lineage that goes back to the very beginning of this art form. His grandfather, Don Manuel Jiménez Ramírez, is credited with founding the Oaxacan alebrije tradition itself, and Armando works today in the same San Antonio Arrazola style his grandfather established: rustic, confident, unpolished in the best sense.
This cheetah leans into that rustic sensibility. The long, elongated legs and low, stalking stance give the piece real tension and movement, closer to a sketch caught in wood than a naturalistic study. The face carries the most invention, angular planes, a stylized muzzle, and bold, almost graphic patterning that owes more to Jimenez's own eye than to the animal's real markings.
