Absolutely magnificent ram sculpture by top Oaxacan woodcarving artist Javier Jimenez. This amazing figure is a one-piece woodcarving except for the ears that are removable. The figure's painting is spectacular; it combines classic Zapotec fretwork with op-art elements as well as delicate animal figures. Especially impressive are the horns of the ram. On the outer sides, it is decorated with a stunning painted Quetzalcoatl, and on the front, it features elegant little ram heads, jaguars, suns, and warriors.
