This colorful dragonfly alebrije by Ivan Fuentes is light, playful, and beautifully balanced. The four wings are painted in vivid pink, purple, turquoise, and green, each filled with fine geometric patterns, while the long tail carries the color outward in bands of violet, turquoise, and coral.
Its large eyes and delicate antennae give the dragonfly plenty of personality without taking away from the clean, elegant shape. Hand-carved and hand-painted in Oaxaca, the piece can be displayed flat on a table or shelf, or mounted on a wall, making it especially versatile.
