Spectacular contemporary olla by top Mata Ortiz artist Elias Peña. This delicate pot is perfectly balanced, with thin walls, and painted to perfection. This pot is incredibly symmetric, and the lip is beautifully cut out which contrasts with the precise cuadritos painted design. The design features a yin-yang symbol on one side of the pot and the other a dynamic whirlwind. Yin Yang is a Chinese philosophical concept that describes opposite but interconnected forces. This concept is reflected in Elias's piece, where the forces result in a whirlwind energy!
