Eleazar Morales gives this cow an irresistible sense of movement, as if she has just lifted her head and stepped forward with curiosity. The long, raised tail, delicately pointed hooves, and bright red eyes add personality without detracting from the carving's elegance.
The painted design is wonderfully complex and full of cheerful color. Cool blues, turquoise, and green are enlivened by pink, coral, and lavender accents, while stylized butterflies appear across the body between bold triangular forms. Fine crosshatching, tiny dots, geometric borders, and layered line work cover nearly every surface. The bright palette gives the piece a wonderfully happy spirit, while the intricate painting keeps it sophisticated and visually rich from every angle.
Hand-carved from copal wood and meticulously hand-painted by Oaxacan artist Eleazar Morales, this authentic alebrije combines humor, refinement, and exceptional craftsmanship. It is a joyful contemporary interpretation of an everyday animal, transformed through the extraordinary decorative language of Oaxacan wood carving.
