Armando Jimenez: Alebrije Polka Cats
Armando Jimenez: Alebrije Polka Cats
Meet two of the most charming little troublemakers to come out of Oaxaca. Carved by artist Armando Jimenez, grandson of Don Manuel Jimenez, the legendary woodcarver credited with starting the whole Oaxacan alebrije tradition, these two cats crouch low and wide-eyed as they've just spotted something worth chasing. One wears bubblegum pink with magenta polka dots and a black-and-white striped tail, the other a cheerful lemon yellow with bold black ovals and a deep blue tail, both finished in that simple, rustic style that lets the personality do all the talking.
Sold individually, so take your pick, or let them cause mischief together.
Hand-carved from copal wood, an authentic piece of Oaxacan folk art carrying three generations of family tradition in every whisker.
