Meet Adrián Xuana's spell-weaving sorcerer ... and look closely, because she is keeping secrets.
On the surface: a figure in a teal robe scattered with yellow moons and blue stars, long ixtle braids swinging like a comet's tail, clutching a lime-green leafy staff that hums with botanical mystery. Black boots, pink hands, whiskers that twitch with intent. Delightful, slightly unsettling, completely in command.
But remove the yellow cat mask, those wild purple eyes, those magnificent jagged teeth, and underneath is a red devil face, calm and watchful, that was there all along. Adrián has built a figure with two faces and one agenda, which seems about right for a sorcerer.
The robe does the rest: every moon and star precisely placed, the whole surface alive with pattern. She is dressed for work. The staff is raised. Whatever comes next, she has been expecting it.
