Talavera Candle Holders - Hand-Painted Puebla Pottery, Set of 2
Talavera Candle Holders - Hand-Painted Puebla Pottery, Set of 2
Gorgeous authentic, certified Talavera candleholders, Colonial style. Handmade in Puebla following the centuries-old Talavera process.
This pair of candle holders comes from the Talavera Poblana tradition, a style of tin-glazed earthenware, or majolica, that took root in Puebla after Spanish potters arrived in the 16th century and blended their technique with the skill of local artisans. Genuine Talavera is protected by Mexico’s denomination of origin, meaning it can only legally carry the name when made within a certified region of Puebla, using the traditional clay and process passed down for generations.
Each piece is thrown, glazed white, then hand-painted freehand before a final firing sets the design permanently into the surface. The floral scrollwork wrapping the body and base follows the layered, symmetrical style Talavera is known for, built up in fine linework rather than printed or stamped on.
A genuinely authentic piece of Mexican pottery, functional enough for everyday use and detailed enough to hold its own as a display piece on its own.
