This spectacular dachshund was created by Oaxacan woodcarver Magaly Fuentes. She carved the long, low dog in an alert pose, with its head up, tail raised, and body stretched out.
Every part is painted in a stunning patchwork of geometric bands, diamond grids, swirls, and dot-work. From above, the patterns look like a woven serape, with stripes running the length of the dog.
Looking closely, each part has its own unique design.
The chest features a large lavender mandala. The shoulder shines with a circle of orange and gold, like a sunset. The legs show a blue diamond lattice inspired by Huichol patterns. The tail blends through a rainbow of colors. Magaly paints every surface, but the overall look stays balanced and harmonious.
This dachshund is painted like a true masterpiece, and it really is one.
