Luis Pablo: Zen Wolf Alebrije

This wolf alebrije by Luis Pablo seems to move with quiet purpose. Its long legs carry the body forward, the head dips slightly, and one paw reaches ahead as if the wolf has just stepped out of the forest and into view. The golden eyes soften the alert expression, giving the figure a watchful, almost thoughtful presence.

Luis Pablo painted the wolf in cool shades of cobalt blue, turquoise, mint, white, and deep violet. Short strokes ripple across the body like fur caught in changing light, while the back and tail open into broad turquoise forms outlined in blue, somewhere between leaves, feathers, and scales. The pattern feels fluid rather than rigid, following the animal’s movement from head to tail.

There is something calm and slightly mysterious about the piece. The cool palette, long silhouette, and measured stride give this hand-carved and hand-painted Oaxacan wood carving a calm sense of movement, as if the wolf is quietly making its way through a moonlit landscape.
