This forceful little eagle by Oaxacan artist Luis Cruz looks as if it’s just landed in a burst of light. The one-piece carving is perfectly sculpted, compact yet dramatic, with wings lifted high and the head lowered into a hunting pose, full of focus and energy.
The wings are a fan of layered feathers, each outlined and patterned in a different shade, so the whole piece shimmers and creates an incredible sense of movement.
