Eduardo Jiménez, grandson of Don Manuel Jiménez Ramírez, founder of the Oaxacan alebrije tradition in San Antonio Arrazola, carved this bear standing upright, catching a fish held proudly crosswise in its mouth like a trophy just pulled from the water. There's real charm in the pose, chest out, paws raised, the kind of unmistakable pride any fisherman would recognize.
The rustic touch comes through in the finish, dash-stippled fur across the head and chest giving way to bold, hand-painted spots down the body, nothing overworked or fussed over, just confident, direct brushwork.
