This adorable little piglet is an exquisite example of fine Oaxacan woodcarving by Rocio Fabian, part of a new generation of artists who have taken fine line painting to an extraordinary level. Her pieces are instantly recognizable for their exquisiteness: layers of tiny lines, dots, grecas, and petal shapes that flow in mandala like patterns over the entire carving.
Carved in a sweet seated pose with its head lifted as if sniffing the air, the piglet has so much personality you can almost hear a tiny snort of curiosity. The soft pink body becomes a canvas for Rocio’s signature designs—radiating sunbursts, feather-like petals, and intricate spirals that wrap around the legs, back, and belly. Deep wine tones and delicate black linework are accented with tiny white dots that make the patterns stand out.
