Artes de Mexico Tane El Lenguaje de la Plata Bilingual Edition

Artes de México Special Edition

The issue is a monograph dedicated entirely to TANE, the legendary Mexico City silver house founded in 1942, and its philosophy of silversmithing as a design language.

The defining chapter of TANE’s creative ambition came in 1974. On the initiative of Pedro Leites, son of the founders, TANE launched the Arte Objeto project — a collection of nearly 60 pieces designed by some 40 significant artists from Mexico and around the world. Carlos Mérida, Mathias Goeritz, Leonora Carrington, Gunther Gerzso, Luis Barragán, Juan Soriano, Teodoro González de León, Vicente Rojo, Francisco Toledo, and Javier Marín, among others, worked alongside TANE’s master silversmiths. Each piece was produced in numbered limited editions of 12 to 24.
