This exquisite Mata Ortiz olla was crafted by Master Potter Hector Gallegos Jr. It features a leaf-like base and a contemporary, well-balanced form. Hector's trademark design, including etched and painted minute details, is evident throughout the olla. The painted band design flows from the back to the front, and the center showcases a beautiful whirlwind Mimbres pattern. Hector Jr learned pottery making from his famous parents, Hector Gallegos and Graciela Martinez, at a young age. His work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions and museums, including the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, California, The Museum Of Man in San Diego, California, and the National Museum of Folk Art in Mexico City. This olla is absolutely gorgeous!
