This stunning wooden mask by Oaxaca artist Luis Pablo depicts an orangutan with a striking, bold, and contemporary style. The mask features a teardrop-shaped sky-blue snout that stands out, highlighted by a hot-pink mouth line and small nostrils. Its bright, large eyes with golden irises are set above a vivid red, angular brow, conveying an alert, slightly mischievous expression.
The whole face is framed by an oval halo of delicately hand-painted silver-grey feathers, each one tipped in charcoal, lending the mask an unexpectedly elegant, almost regal quality.
