Carolina Sandoval & Kengi: Fusion Owl, Butterfly, Snake

This is a spectacular fusion alebrije by Carolina Sandoval and Kengi, blending the essence of different beings into one mesmerizing figure. The body is that of a coiled serpent, covered in turquoise, lavender, and aquamarine scales that shimmer with geometric detail. Rising from the serpent form is the wide-eyed head of an owl, its fiery orange eyes framed by hand-woven cotton feathers from Jalieza, Oaxaca — a touch that adds texture and cultural authenticity.

Vivid butterfly wings extend from its sides, painted in electric blues and oranges, making the piece feel as though it could lift off into a dreamlike world. The creature is both fantastical and symbolic, representing wisdom (the owl), transformation (the butterfly), and renewal (the serpent).
