Nestor Melchor: One-Piece Quetzalcoatl

This Quetzalcoatl figure is impressive. Nestor Melchor carved it from a single block of wood, patiently creating the intricate design of the curving tail. This mythical plumed serpent, god of many Pre-Columbian cultures, is present in most of 15th-century Mesoamerica. Quetzalcoatl is an enigma, considered a man, a deity, a priest, a myth and/or a legend. This amazing piece is not only very well carved but beautifully painted as well.
