Striking fierce jaguar created by Magaly Fuentes and her husband Jose Calvo. They are one of the most accomplished woodcarving teams in Oaxaca today. Jose carves all their pieces and Magaly is in charge of the design and painting of their sculptures.
This wonderful fierce jaguar has at the back a spectacular stylized sunflower from which the entire painting flows. It always amazes me the perfection of each of Magaly's painted details, the gorgeous use of color and color gradations as well as the eclectic use of Zapotec fretwork and contemporary op-art.
