Luis Pablo: Spectacular Axolote Emperor

Spectacular large Axolote Emperor  by top Oaxaca artist Luis Pablo.  This amazing axolotl has such a gorgeous form, with its curving tail and the watercolor style painting is beautiful! The top of the axolotes and the bottom have blue coloring in wave-like forms representing the rivers and bodies of water where this species lives. Axolotes had an important role among pre-Columbian cultures and at that time it was very abundant in the Valley of Mexico.

Take a look at the wonderful silver headpiece with its colored feathers.

Axolotls are not really fish but salamanders. Unfortunately, they are almost extinct. Mexico is working on conserving axolotls by building axolotl shelters and conserving potential habitats.
