Splendid olla by Mata Ortiz artist Jerardo Tena. This fabulous pot features a jaguar at the top, that is very nicely formed and painted! Jaguars were very important in Pre-Columbian civilizations. They symbolized power and protection; it was also associated with both light and darkness; thus Jerardo incorporated in the design painted half suns and moons!
