Javier Martinez and his wife Gaby created this amazing Day of the Dead themed olla. It is a day view of Mata Ortiz's graveyard. The etched skeletons and tombs are dedicated to some of the top Mata Ortiz potters that have passed away such as Guadalupe Gallegos, Felix Ortiz, Chevo Ortiz and for the first time Spencer MacCallum the American man responsible for propelling Mata Ortiz pottery to unimaginable high worldwide appreciation. The top and bottom are decorated in red lace-like etching. As you can see, it is a festive portrayal of one of Mexico's most important celebrations, The Day of the Dead.
