Isidoro Cruz is a legend of Oaxaca. He started woodcarving at a very young age, creating masks for the carnivals. He influenced and taught many of the most successful carvers today.His art evolved in such a way that his masks, in particular, are in museums and private collections around the world. Isidoro carved masks of a profound mystical symbolism such as death and religion. This textured mask is impressive and forceful and at the same time, it poses a non-trivial beauty. Isidoro Cruz Hernadez passed away in 2015.
