Impressive gorilla handmade in Jalisco, Mexico by the Huichol people. The Wixárika or Huichol people are the masters of beaded art in Mexico and arguably the world. Beads are painstakingly placed one by one over the wax areas that have been prepared for beading. This handsome gorilla has a wonderful sense of movement and force. It has a decorated design of peyote flowers, maze plants, and scorpions, in addition to a great auburn, gray, and black coloring. The handmade figure has a rock-like base with moss-like details. A wonderful piece!
