Fabulous sculpture of a mythological Pre-Columbian jaguar stylized as a toy on four wheels featuring clock faces. The wheels with golden-yellow rims are a joyful suggestion of the passage of time. The jaguar's fiery tail represents the energy and enthusiasm of childhood that propels us throughout life. It contrasts beautifully with the black and white woven-like body. This spectacular figure is the creation of Oaxacan artist Dante Cruz and was part of an exhibition of traditional Mexican toys. It reminds me of a Trojan horse, an exquisite fusion of time and myth!
