Marcelo Vidales: Impressive Mixtec Day of the Dead Dancer
Wonderful dancer skeleton by artist Marcelo Vidales. This tall skeleton is dancing a traditional Oaxaca dance called La Danza de la Pluma, the feathers dance, which is performed every year to end the Guelaguetza festivities. This dance is considered a “jewel” of Oaxacan culture, and one of the most important traditional dances in Mexico. The skeleton’s attire is so faithful to the real costume, and the painted decoration so impressive and detailed. The headdress is decorated with the colors and shield of the Mexican Flag!
