Milagros: Saint Therese of the Child Jesus
This rustic hand-carved wood sculpture portrays Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, also known as “The Little Flower of Jesus”, in a heartfelt and folk-inspired style. The figure, painted in bright tones of yellow and black, holds a cross adorned with colorful flowers, symbolizing her profound yet straightforward devotion to Christ. Her serene, closed-eyed expression evokes peaceful contemplation and deep inner prayer.
The surface of her robe is richly adorned with Mexican milagros, tiny silver-toned metal charms traditionally used in folk Catholicism as votive offerings to invoke protection, healing, or to give thanks for miracles.
Saint Thérèse is the patron saint of missionaries, and the sick, and is especially beloved by those who seek humility, perseverance, and grace in small acts of love.
