This gorgeeous Day of the Dead olla was created by Javier and Gaby Martinez. It is their version of how Mata Ortiz's graveyard looks at night, during the Day of the Dead Celebrations. The etched skeletons and tombs are dedicated to some of the top Mata Ortiz potters that have passed away such as Nicolas Quezada, Marta Ponce, and Nancy Heras. As you can see, it is a festive portrayal of one of Mexico's most important celebrations, there are musicians and dancing, night owls, and a crescent moon!
