Auctions FAQ

What are Sandia Folk Auctions?
We are implementing auctions on our site, of some items of excellent quality that have been on our site for a while. Auctions will have a very low starting price.

How do Sandia Folk Auctions work?
Once an item is put on auction, users will be able to bid on it by entering the price willing to be paid. Each auction has an ending date and time. Whoever is the highest bidder at the auction’s end date and time will be the winner and will purchase the item at the ending price.

What do I need to do to bid on an auction?
Users must be registered in order to place a bid. The registration link is located on the top left of the screen.

What is proxy bidding?
Proxy bidding is where the user enters the highest price willing to be paid for a piece. The
system will auto-increment the bid as needed in order to try staying as the winning bidder.

How will I know I am the high bidder?
Once you have bid and you are the high bidder, an icon on the picture of the item you are winning will be shown on your My Auctions page.

How will I know I have been outbid?
You will receive an email letting you know you have been outbid.

What is Buy it Now?
Buy it now allows the user to bypass auction-mode and purchase a piece at the designated Buy it Now price.

How do I pay for an auction I won?
You will get a confirmation email with a link through which you can pay. You can also go to your My Auctions page and click Pay.

Can I cancel a bid that I have already placed?
Yes. In order to do so please send us an email and we will cancel it for you.
